- Read the manufacturer's use instructions. Look for an explicit oven-safe statement and maximum temperature.
- Check the actual product, not just the material description. “Food-grade silicone” does not by itself provide an oven rating.
- Look for non-silicone components. Plastic lids, handles, frames, adhesives, printing or inserts may have lower temperature limits than the silicone body.

Should Silicone Molds Go Directly on an Oven Rack?
Even when a mold is oven-rated, a rigid sheet pan or tray is often the safer handling method for a flexible filled mold. Flexible silicone can sag between oven-rack bars, and liquid batter or filling can shift while the unsupported mold is moved.
Place the empty silicone mold on its support tray first, fill it there, then move the tray and mold together. This reduces the chance of spills and helps keep flexible cavities level.
Can Silicone Molds Go Under a Broiler?
Do not assume so. A broiler exposes a mold to intense radiant heat and places it much closer to the heating element than normal baking. Unless the manufacturer explicitly approves broiler use, keep silicone molds away from broilers, direct flame and direct contact with heating elements.
An oven temperature reading also does not perfectly describe the local heat right next to an element or flame. This is another reason to follow the product's intended use rather than treating a maximum temperature as permission for every heating method.
Can Silicone Molds Touch the Oven Heating Element?
No. Keep flexible bakeware positioned securely so it cannot sag, shift or touch an exposed heating element. A supporting pan helps control the mold's position and makes removal safer when the contents are hot.
Can Silicone Molds Go in a Microwave?
Only if the specific mold is approved for microwave use. Oven-safe, microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe and freezer-safe are separate use claims. Do not infer one from another.

Do You Need to Grease Silicone Molds for Baking?
